Woman at the Bar

Dress: F21 / Shoes: Fioni (here) / Lipstick: CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Enchant

HAHA, LOL,
no, I'm not a woman
(well... technically). I'm just
a little girl pretending to look mysterious.
But the 90s mud-brown lipstick helps, no?

Besides the point...
I was at a debut* yesterday
and managed to (hurriedly) have
some (albiet low-quality) pictures taken
of me right before my family and I left the party.

So for this post,
I want to encourage you guys
to continue to find inspiration from
historical fashion.
Here, I don a very 20s-like flapper dress.
The long fringe hem is what really drew me
towards it. It's so delicate that whenever I
walk, it swishes around my legs.

I really wanted to emphasize that beautiful fringe,
so instead of wearing a basic black skirt
(which would have been typical),
I took out that white slip again.
Not only does it give such a stark
contrast against the dark fringe,
it reminds me of vintage lingerie.

So remember...don't be typical.
If there's another possible way for you
to wear a certain piece unlike the way
everyone else would wear it, do it.
Be unexpected in your styling,
like the white slip
substituting a black skirt.

---

Are you inspired by old-school fashions?
Would you try the innerwear-as-outerwear trend?

---

Hooray for actually having
a reason to dress up!

*For those of you who don't know, a debut is a "traditional Filipino coming-of-age celebration for young women" when they turn eighteen-years-old---similar to a quinceanera.

I love that you wore a white slip to make the fringe pop, it contrasts so well. I'm an absolute sucker for fringe!
