Drawing Inspiration from Grandpa

Grandparents.
Not your first choice when it comes
to styling inspiration.
But I guess that's the thing about fashion.
It's unexpected.

Last Sunday,
I was at my grandparents' house,
and when I saw my grandpa is his suit,
I thought to myself:
"Grandpa: print-mixing expert."
Observe:

Who knew?
So here's some inspiration for you all:
Try mixing houndstooth, vertical stripes,
herringbone, and diagonal stripes
all at once in the same outfit.
Just do it.
If your grandpa can do it, so can you.

Something else...
I noticed my grandpa rockin' some
swaggin' slouchy trousers that hit the floor
--reminiscent of the zoot suit:

All right, Grandpa!
Bringing back styles from the 1900s!

Have you ever looked at
your grandparents for fashion inspiration?

  5. The shot of what he's wearing on top combines all of my favorite textures into one.

The different greys all layered together are balanced in such a perfect way - he honestly must have quite the eye for fashion.

This is one of those examples of how by keeping your eyes open in everyday life you can find people with little bursts of unique style that completely changes how you think of them.

Do you think you'd have noticed this if you didn't have a blog? I ask because I've found that I keep my eyes open much more frequently now.

    Best,

    Gabrielle

    1. YES! Months ago before I started blogging, I honestly wouldn't have cared what my grandparents wore. But I feel like my eyes are now more fine-tuned to the smaller details...

I like that you mentioned "little bursts." That's nice to think about.
      Thanks again.
